My name is Mārtiņš Barinskis and this blog is my nth attempt in writing something regularly and public. All previous attempts (in Latvian) were started and then soon thrown away afterwards, even before search engines could index anything.

I am a software developer and this blog is intended to be about it - hobby- or work-related problems/issues/ideas that occupy my mind at particular moment.

I was a Macintosh user for some years until I switched back to the PC and Ubuntu Linux as operating system of my choice. I love Linux, GNOME and, well, OpenSource world in general and I really, really want to be a part of it.

Among desktop stuff I’m also interested in enterprise application development and I’m very interested in technologies offered by Java - Spring Framework, Wicket for instance. I’m quite zealous about so-called “best practices” in different areas - deployment, source control, project management etc. - as well.
